Man-Animal Conflict: J&K wildlife Dept organizes week long technical workshop-cum training programme | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNO): The Department of Wildlife Protection, UT of J&K, headed by Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests (WL)/Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K Sarvesh Rai, launched a week-long Technical Workshop cum Training Programme on Human-Wildlife Conflict on Monday. In a statement issued by the Department of Wildlife Protection J&K to news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), week long technical workshop cum training programme is scheduled from 29th April, 2024 to 4th May 4 on Human Wildlife Conflict for the frontline staff of Kashmir Region comprising of Forest Territorial, Forest Protection Force and Wildlife Department The workshop-cum-training for the frontline staff shall be imparted in three phases for three circles viz Srinagar, North and South Circle. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Nature Interpretation Center of Dachigam National Park at 10:00 am, graced by Chief Guest T. Rabi Kumar, IFS, Additional Pr. Chief Conservation of Forests, Kashmir. Pervaiz Ahmed Wani, DCF, Wildlife Warden, Central, delivered the welcome address, extending greetings to all dignitaries, guests, and participant trainees. As per the release, attendees included Divisional Forest Officers, Deputy Directors of Forest Protection Force, Wildlife Wardens, and representatives from various organizations such as the National Society for Water Resources, Wetlands & Forests, Wildlife SOS, and Wild Life Trust of India. Notable among the experts were Ashish Dasgupta and his team from Himachal Pradesh, renowned for their expertise in Man-Wildlife Conflict management. Rashid Yahya Naquash, Regional Wildlife Warden, HQs, UT of Jammu and Kashmir, provided an overview of the historical and statistical data related to human-wildlife conflicts in the region. Pradeepchandra Wahule, IFS, Regional Wildlife Warden, Kashmir, emphasized the significance of such training programs in enhancing technical skills to address wildlife issues effectively. Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest T. Rabi Kumar, IFS, Addl. Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, expressed satisfaction with the initiative and highlighted practical strategies for conflict resolution, stressing the importance of future programs.
